Potomac River Blue Catfish

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Potomac River

I fished with Julian Tsai and Gene Wright on the Potomac River today, 4/20. We anchored off of Ft Washington and were dropping cut alewife over the side for blue catfish.

The bite was fair, we only caught 27 blue catfish, one each of a channel catfish and a bullhead catfish in six hours of fishing. The fish ranged from 11 up to 28.5. We fished the end of the rising tide, through slack tide and into the dropping tide. I'm thinking if we just fished dropping tide it would have been a much better catch.

What a beautiful day to be on the water.
