Rare Pollock Caught in Ocean City Inlet

Type: Ocean
Region: Eastern
Location: Ocean City

We had an extremely rare catch of an Atlantic pollock (Pollachius virens) in Ocean City Inlet on April 29, 2002. "Big Bird" Cropper, Shaun Flaherty and Morgan Mericle were catching throwback rockfish and bluefish in the inlet when Big Bird caught a huge 32 inch pollock. According to Scott Lenox of Fish in OC, thats only the second pollock he has ever heard of from the inlet and certainly the biggest. The first was just a few weeks ago when he watched Blake Gunther catch one while we were filming for Hooked on OC.
