Unfavorable Forecast But The Bite Was Hot

Type: Chesapeake
Region: Central
Location: Podickory Point

Wind, rain, waves, and tornado warnings sounds like a good day to go fishing. Steve texted me the question, do you want to fish this morning? Sure, Im all in, was my reply. We figured wed have a few hours of calm before any storm might kick up. Besides, in my experience, on the upper bay the weatherman is right only 50 percent of the time.

Taking advice from the good guys at Fishbones Tackle, we made our way out of Magothy River and dropped anchor in 21 feet of water just off Podickory Point. Three cuts of Alewives were let down and within minutes three 24-inch Stripers came up! We put 2 in the box, then sat back and did some successful catch and release. Soon a charter boat took notice and anchored next to us to get in on the action, So we pulled up the anchor and called it a day so the charter captain could conduct his business without any interference from us. Job well done Captain Steve!
