Smithville Lake Pickerel

On January 3rd I rolled out at 8:00 to fish Smithville Lake. Getting to the lake at 10:00and fished til 2:00 then another two hour drive home! Ugh… work traffic is a pain to my fishing. Anyway, I caught 7 pickerel, five on a Mepps #3, one on a 1/4oz jig w/3” paddle tail and another on a jerk bait. The wind was high, ugh.

I spoke to two other anglers both in separate boats, but identical boats, anyway they were fishing with shiners. They said they were targeting and catching pickerel. They also said they got one 7lb bass too. Fun day on the mill pond.
