Hi folks!
I hope you have heard or read about the Summer Flounder survey that starts this weekend. We have teamed up with volunteers from the Atlantic Coast chapter of the Maryland Saltwater Sportfishermens Association to conduct a first-of-its-kind-ever-anywhere survey in Marylands coastal bays. Marty Gary wrote a great article with more details in the Coastal Fisherman this week, so all Ill say here is that MSSA volunteers will be heading out on their boats to contact boating anglers in Flounder Alley in July and August. Here are Buddy Seigel and Frank Watkins doing a great job of modeling our Flounder Survey sign. The MSSA volunteers will be asking anglers to take a simple, short survey card (1 per boat). Here are Budd Heim and Buddy testing out the hand-over of the card between boats. So if you are out flounder fishing near Ocean City and a fellow boating angler approaches you with a sign on his boat and a blue card on a pole, please consider taking a moment to listen to him, fill out the survey card at the end of your trip, and drop it in the mailbox. (The postage is prepaid.) Ill be back in the Fall to tell you what we found out!
