My friend Julian and I fished St Marys Lake on Friday 4/7 in the on and off again rain. Catching bass, pickerel, crappie and golden shiner. I caught 27 LMB, two pickerel (both dinks) and a golden shiner. All caught on a 1 crawdad colored square billed crankbait. Julian caught 14 LMB, a pickerel and a crappie. Catching on a mix of baits, 1 crawdad colored square billed crankbait, Yo-Zuri jerk bait and a chartreuse colored perch pounder. Water temperature was 65/66 degrees. Areas where fish were caught the water was clear and clean, but there was silted water in the upper ends of the coves. Most fish were caught at the mouth of coves up to the silt line. Id surmise the reason for the large numbers of small fish caught is that they are not yet mature breeders and had free range while the mature bass are in their spawn. There was A little pollen on the lake too.
