Oyster Bar Cleaning

For the second year in a row the Queen Anne's County Watermen's Association has participated in a Oyster Bar cleaning project in Eastern Bay. Using Oyster dredges, nine work boats worked various Oyster Bars to raise up the Oyster shell that had silted over the years. Once cleaned the raised shells are again available to receive a spat set (baby oysters) from this year's upcoming Oyster spawning season. Oyster shell is a vital ingredient as substrate to allow Oyster Bars to continue to flourish.
