Blue Catfish Fishing

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Potomac River

I fished with friend Julian Tsai and a couple of other friends off Julians boat on 4/19. We fished the Potomac River off Fort Washington using cut alewifefor bait. I'm not sure if we were on the bottom with the very fast current early on, but, we were fishing the bottom during the end of the dropping tide.

Most of the fish were caught in a short window of time about an hour before the end of the tide. Catching 12 blue catfish and two bycatch striped bass. Releasing the striped bass unharmed, we were using circle hooks. We gave a good portion of the fish to a shore angler at the launch and our left over bait, which was bought at the Tackle Box.
