I spoke at DNR's "Welcome to Boating and Fishing Clinic" event at Sandy Point State Park last Sunday, 5/7. I had a 10:30 talk on "Freshwater Fishing Opportunities" and a 2:30 talk on "Kayak Fishing". With time to fish between the talks.
The event was being held at the boat ramps. So I used my kayak as a prop to my talks. Then I ran out to fish the bridge pilings.
Although I only had a couple of hours to fish I did manage to jig up three striped bass, missing plenty of others. Their bite was very slight. Catching on the east bound bridge pilings.
After my last talk I loaded out and headed to Triadelphia Reservoir. The water level was down, I assume four to five foot from when I last fished the lake on April 23rd. They're getting set to do dredging at the lake, and drawing it down some.
There, while fishing in the rain, I caught a nice crappie and a pike. No photo of the pike though. He pulled a quick snakehead type move on me in the net and swam off. Oh well
