I had planned on running down to PLO (Point Lookout) in the morning. But I stopped to take a look at Mill Creek prior. Seeing it flat and fish breaking I unloaded my kayak to take a shot at it, because, a friend of mine fished it yesterday, he caught a cutlass fish. I looked at my logs and I caught several last year on 6/26th. Well wouldnt you know, I unloaded the kayak and before I got peddling around the bend the wind picked up I only a snagged cownose ray and a few bluefish bites of my plastics. UGH.
So after two hours of dead water I pulled the plug and headed to PLO.
I fished PLO for three hours. The wind was up so it was a bit sporty. After an hour or so fishing the rock piles and old dock pilings by the lighthouse the wind picked up even more. I headed back to the dock. I did stop and fished the jetties at the inlet. Catching another trout and losing two fish.
In all I caught four speckled sea trout and two striped bass. Three of the trout and the striped bass were caught out near the lighthouse. Big trout was 18, big striped bass was 20. Catching on 3/8oz and 1/2oz jigs with chartreuse paddle tails, white 5 BKD shad/eel and an electric chicken twister tail.
