On Saturday 7/1, I met up with friends Andy and Paul. Andy had planned on some cobia fishing, but once we stuck the nose of his boat out into the bay it was pretty kicked up. And the run south and back, along with a small craft warning later in the day plus Paul wasnt too comfortable, Andy looked at me as to ask how I felt. Told him its his call but we could try trolling the Pax for striped bass and/or bluefish. We did but, no luck on either. We called it pretty quickly.
I decided to fish St Marys Lake on Sunday, 7/2. I figured it best in that there wouldnt be any power boats. To my surprise there were only three other anglers on the water. I fished for four hours. Catching 17 LMB, 13 crappie, two bluegill a pickerel and a golden shiner. Catching on wacky rig, square billed crankbait, small jointed and standard jerkbaits. Most fish were caught offshore (50-100yrds or more) over grass. The lake has surprisingly quite a few shallow grass flats offshore close to deeper water. Lot of fish but most were on the small side.
