Some Fishing

Type: Nontidal and Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: St. Mary's Lake, Mill Creek

I fished St Marys Lake Sunday 8/27, but not before I fished off the community pier while it rained over at the lake. I caught cutlassfish and a striped bass on 1/2oz Hardhead Custom Baits shad heads with a chartreuse paddle tail.

I then drove to the lake and fished for a little over 4hrs. My plan was to fish a few of the flats on the lake, casting square billed crankbaits. Water depth varied from 4-9.5. With the slight wind and overcast skies I assumed that the bass would be on the move and somewhat up in the water column.

Most fish were caught offshore and in 6-8 of water, but there were a few instances where I saw bass feeding along the shoreline and I casted there and caught them. I was casting square billed crankbaits and jerk-baits. Catching on both. I caught 14 largemouth bass, two crappie and a dink yellow perch. Avg bass was 12, two were 16 or so and big was 18.

PS: I fished the community pier and soft launch on Mill Creek for a bit last evening. Catching cutlassfish and a puppy drum.
