I met up with my friend Billy to fish out of Point Lookout State Park on 9/20. I was on on the water at 6:30, Billy headed north to cast and troll along the channels edge, starting at the up river end of Cornfield Harbor (CH). He trolled the channels edge, to the tower at the other end of CH. He got bites three times but nothing committed.
I started at the jetties leading out of the park and into CH, catching a puppy drum early on. I then trolled two baits towards and out to the lighthouse. Only to have my baits bitten off.
There, I cast a 1/2 oz jig w/4 plastic, jigged BKD six inch eels and retrieved a tandem setup with two 1/4oz jigs, one dressed with a three inch paddle tail and the other a small white gulp.
In total I caught, two puppy drum, two black sea bass, two needlefish, a puffer fish, a striped bass, a bluefish, a speckled sea trout and a spot.
No monsters but a fun morning.
