On Monday 11/13 I fished two Eastern Shore Mill Ponds. Starting on Smithville Lake in Denton, casting, trolling, working the shoreline and main body of the lake. And only scoring one small largemouth bass on a #4 Mepps.
There were four other kayakers and an angler in a bass boat. I spoke to several. The Three kayakers were as a group fly casting poppers on panfish. One angler said he caught a few fish. The angler in the boat said he had only caught one crappie. He was fishing minnows and casting baits too.
After two hours I wrapped it up and headed to Johnsons Lake in Salisbury. Once there I was asked by a guy if I could free a seagull which was caught in braid fishing line seeing that I had a boat. After loading out I made my way over to the bird. He sat there as I came along side, allowing me to snip the tip off a wing feather, freeing him. He looked at me then slowly paddled away to meet up with the flock. I removed the line from the tree and bushes.
Then off to fish, I was the only angler on the lake. I could see bait breaking on the surface several times but couldnt generate a bite. In the end I found two fish on the main body of the lake. Casting a twitch bait and trolling a #4 Mepps. Both fish were over 22. One I released immediately due to being hooked in the gills.
On 11/14 I fished a pond in Charles County hunting largemouth bass. Catching 7, landing 5. The fish ranged from 17 to 19s. Catching on blade baits and rattle traps.
