Wednesday January 3rd was an okay day on the bay. We launched at 12:30, and were off the water by 5:30. Three of us caught a total of 10 striped bass over 40", three in the high 30", and four in the high 20" from Cove Point up to Little Choptank, West side and back down again. We put some miles on the water.
Weird, not many small fish were caught. There were times when the screen on the meter was full of fish, but we couldn't get bit.
Smalls caught on traditional quick snap presentation. Big fish were all caught on a cast, count to 5-6, reeling in bait w/sweeps-snaps. They were rolling on top at times and we'd not get bit too.
Okay, okay it was an EPIC day!
Note: we landed all fish by hand. We avoided using a net. A quick photo, measurement and release. Air temp, low 40s, water temp 48deg, w/light wind.
