Stocked Rainbow Trout

The state stocked rainbow trout in Calvert, Charles, and Prince George counties on 1/12.

I was stalking bluegill yesterday, over at and Indian Creek NRMA, looking for that unicorn 11� fish when I got the DNR�s trout stocking email. So I hurried over to Calvert Cliffs.

I only had spin gear, that was too heavy for trout. And with 17 lb. test line at that. But I took a few casts and caught two trout on a micro jig under a bobber. In 1/13 I got to the Calvert Cliffs pond before sunrise. Two other anglers beat me there. Others soon followed behind. But no matter, I waded out, casting a pheasant tail beadhead nymph with a pheasant tail dropper and caught 10 in short order, releasing them all. I saw one of the early arrivals catch his five fish on Berkley trout Powerbait. The wind picked up and blew me off the pond at nine.
