Beginning of the Shad Run

The hickory shad run has started at Fletchers Boathouse in Washington DC though fishing is very slow. I fished for about 6 hours and only caught three hickory shad. Other anglers fishing tandem shad dart rigs with small to medium sized darts were more successful. Fishing was very slow maybe due to the cold and stained water though I am looking forward to improved success in the coming weeks. There is a lot of debris on the bank making fishing difficult at certain places though this might be temporary.
