Hey guys, so I fly fished the Gunpowder River last Saturday with my buddy Zach M. He and I have fished it the past 4 weekends and have been doing pretty well. This weekend we fished the Glencoe Stretch from the Gasline down about a mile and a half to where the parking area is for the trail off of Lower Glencoe Rd. We both have been using our 5 wt fly rods and made for some good days on the trout. Last weekend, on the 2nd, I hauled in a nice 13" Rainbow on a size 10 Black Bead-headed Wooly Bugger and two Browns one of which was 10" and caught on the same bugger and the other about 8" which was pulled in on a size 16 Cream Caddis (pictures are attached). Zach pulled in two Browns as well, both around 6" and those were caught on a size 16 Prince Nymph. Water levels were low at around 60 fps so we used a longer leader/tippet from 10-12' at around 5x and make sure your decently stealthy. Nymphing is great in the morning while using an indicator and as you progress through the day and get closer to noon, switching the indicator for a dry fly and having your nymph as a dropper works great. Using dark colored Buggers and Zonkers anytime of day works also by either dead drifting them or swinging them in the runs. The dries really pick up in the afternoon as the hatch of Caddis, some Sulphers, and BWO's gets better and better.
