Catching Snakehead in the Susquehanna

Type: Tidal
Region: Central
Location: Susquehanna River

I caught 7 total snakehead today. These 2 over 30 inches and the other 5 all over 20 inches. The two 31 inch northern snakeheads weighed 10 pounds 8 ounces each. They were all caught in the Susquehanna River on a white swimbait.

  • The 1st was caught at 8:50am
  • The 2nd was caught at 1:53pm

I am finding them in shallow water by fallen trees, brush piles and rock piles. Most of the time they are never alone as they show to still be in the prespawn stages.

David received two FishMaryland Invasive Species certificates for his two big snakehead catches. Congratulations!
