Type: Nontidal and Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: St. Mary's Lake and Lower Potomac
I started the day (5/7) on St Marys Lake. Getting on the water around 9:20, I fished til noon catching 12 largemouth bass. All but one on wacky rig the other on a jerk bait.
The water was like glass this morning, I could see bass feeding on bait as they pushed it to the surface. Id cast and immediately get bit, but these were onesies twosies. It didnt matter the depth. This was in the main body of the lake. The bigger fish came from water depths no more than 8 in a cove.
I then headed to fish the lower Potomac River looking for speckled trout. Getting on the water at 1:30. Once there, I caught seven red drum, six in the slot, over 18 and one under. I also caught two trout, losing two too. All caught with jigs. I got there as the tide crested and fished some of the falling. Getting off the water at 5:00.
