Rock Bass at Deep Creek Lake

<p>I caught dozens of large rock bass from the shallow docks. Many fish, just under 10” which qualifies one to receive a “FishMaryland” award. I did however manage to boat 2 citation size rock bass, a 10” and 10.5”. The majority of the fish were taken on Berkley Gulp minnows on 1/8oz. ball, jig heads, pitched around docks and grass. I only seem to catch these fish during the spring. I can’t recall catching one in the summer and definitely have never caught one through the ice on Deep Creek. A mixed bag of smallmouths and large sunfish would also take this offering. Water temperature was 65 degrees on Friday and warmed to 67 by Sunday. Boat traffic will become an issue after this weekend.</p> <p>Wayne received two FishMaryland certificates for these catches.
