It was a pretty good day, but the early bite was not there. Got on the water at 5:30 and only 3 fish by 7 am when the big smallie hit a black buzz bait on the upstream side of a rock. Fishing at Lander on the upper Potomac was steady and a number of quality smallmouth were landed, including a 3 pound 4 ounce smallie that hit a black buzz bait at 7 am. Pat Otoole enjoyed good action all day using 3 inch fat senkos in a variety of colors. A few channel cats were taken on Gulp minnows.
