Herons and Fish at the Jetty
Type: Chesapeake
Region: Southern
Location: Calvert - Long Beach
I just got back from a shorten fishing session at the jetty at Calvert - Long Beach (mid bay). The fish are still biting as I caught two small croaker and a not legal puppy drum. The reason my outing was shorten was because of a pair of blue herons coming WAY TOO CLOSE as I was reeling in, and releasing my catches. I’m saying they were flying within 7 ft, since they were closer than my rod tip. They must have learned that people mean food, probably because some folks have been feeding them. As a reminder, please keep wild animals wild by not feeding them!
