Madness on the Marshyhope Recap

Type: Nontidal
Region: Eastern
Location: Marshyhope Creek

On Saturday November 2nd, I worked the 3rd Annual Madness on the Marshyhope Blue Catfish Tournament, hosted by the Town of Federalsburg, along with the Coastal Conservation Association of Maryland. The tournament mascot, Buster, was also on site! Nearly 30 boats and over 70 anglers were registered in the tournament. Together they pulled in 297 fish for a total of 527 lbs! The winners were as follows:

  • 1st place - heaviest fish by weight: Albert Howell 30.9 lbs
  • 2nd place fish: Makennah Peer 22.5 lbs
  • 3rd place fish: Jordan Kirby 21.5 lbs
  • Most pounds minus their heaviest fish: Makennah Peer 62.2 lbs
  • Smallest fish by length: Damien Kunie 4.5 inches
  • Tie for the most fish caught: 33 each boat, Albert Howell and John Ostermann

Thanks to a grant from Maryland Department of Natural Resources, the Town were able to run the tournament with FREE registration!

Thank you to all who participated!
