Mattawoman Hickory Shad

<p>On 4/11 I fished the upper reaches of Mattawoman Creek out of Mason Springs. Using conventional gear and fly gear too. Although the rain fell hard the creek ran clear, and fell as the tide receded. The fall line on the creek is at the bridge at Hawthorne Rd although the creek experiences tides well up creek.</p> <p> Fishing below the bridge and several pools up on the creek I caught 110 hickory shad. My friend Dennis caught numerous shad too.</p> <p> We were catching on shad darts, spoons and flies.</p>
