A Bit of Striped Bass Fishing

Type: Tidal
Region: Southern
Location: Smith Island, Point Lookout, Patuxent River,

It’s been a busy spring. Freshwater and Bay waters. I fished the Smith Island Tournament with the FishTalk team. We didn’t win but in the end it was a blast! Catching striped bass and a few stray blue fish.

I also fished Point Lookout Friday before last and on 5/20 too. Catching striped bass and bluefish. I fished the Patuxent on 5/14 (white perch)-5/19 (striped bass & white perch), and a couple of creeks too, looking for white perch and striped bass on the lower end of the river.

Catching perch on beetle spins, small spinner baits and perch hounders. Striped bass were caught on heavy jigs because of the relentless winds we’ve experienced recently.

Striped bass were 24-29”

Bluefish were 18-20”

Perch were up to 11”

Ralph w/fish
