July 1st is the first day of jug fishing season in Maryland. So I spent the late morning dropping jugs off the side of my kayak. A group of anglers and volunteers with the MD chapter of Heroes On the Water and the Assistant Director Jesse of CCA MD came together to enjoy the sport. And start the season of jugging off by catching blue catfish. The group caught 30 blue catfish and a channel catfish.
All the fish were kept and distributed between everyone who helped and attended. In MD you are allowed to jug fish from July 1 through February 29th, and allowed to fish 10 jugs, but only in tidal tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay.
