Put in at Leesylvania at around 4pm on 7/30/2011. Set out the gill net in VA water and caught about 30 nice shad. Set up around Pamukey Creek on the Potomac and immediately starting catching some nice cats. Caught 3 channel cats up to 8 lbs and 2 blues around 20. Headed north and set up at the mouth of Piscataway. I put a chunk of shad on the circle hook(a very large chunk, 1/3 of a 14 inch shad) and dropped it down with 10oz of lead. About 15 minutes later the rod, a very big rod, doubled over and drag peeled. Soon I had the fish to the boat. I would have netted it but we lost the net earlier, fell off the bimini top. Anyway, I managed to land the fish by hand. It was 41 inches long and weighed 37lbs according to our digital scale. Around midnight the outgoing tide started washing loose grass into this area and we had to call it quits. All in all a great night on the River. 3 blues around 20, 1 37lber and 8-10 smaller fish. When the bass fishing is slow this is plan B. I may have to reconsider that
