Tributary Perch Fishing

Type: Chesapeake
Region: Eastern
Location: Edgewater, South River

Below are a few of the many White Perch I have caught over the last week, as well as the last few months. I have been bending my rod casting light tackle lures to rocky shorelines, the slack water around rip rapped points, submerged trees, shaded docks, as well as the transitional areas from the shallow flats to the deep water in the South River. Some of the go to lures have been small rattletraps, beetle spins, rooster-tails, small jointed shad raps, small bomber crankbaits and other reaction baits of the likeness. The best action has been the morning, evening or during overcast skies, with high water and a good running tide. There is also small blues and throwback rockfish, but the other day I was surprised by a 19" Rockfish. Hopefully that sight becomes more common as Fall arrives.
