Patapsco Valley State Park 2/24/2017 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Location: 1100 Hilton Ave. Catonsville, MD 21228 City: County: Baltimore Description: Join us as we investigate the culprits of pollution with this fun, hands-on activity. The answers may surprise you! After the game, we’ll make fun crafts and even meet a real wildlife ambassador!Rain or shine! Call 410-461-5005 to register. Fun for all ages! Cost: $5/person. Directions: From I-695 (Baltimore Beltway), take Exit 13, Frederick Road west. follow for two miles and turn left on South Rolling Road. At first intersection, bear right in Hilton Avenue. Continue 1.5 miles and turn right into park. From I-95, take exit 47 (keep left on exit ramp), heading north (Route 166) to South Rolling Road. Follow 1.8 miles and make a sharp left on Hilton Avenue. Continue 1.5 miles and turn right into park. Seneca Creek State Park 2/25/2017 2:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Location: 11950 Clopper Road City: Gaithersburg County: Montgomery Description: Come to the park for a fun, 30 minute indoor program for kids. Meet a living snake, and examine shells and skins from reptiles living in the park! Cost: No cost Directions: From Washington, D.C, Virginia and points south, take I-270 north towards Frederick, Maryland. Take Exit 10, Clopper Road (Route 117). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. The park is approximately 2 miles on the left. From points north, take I-270 south towards Washington, D.C., take Exit 11 (MD Route 124 west). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. At the second light, turn right onto Clopper Road (Route 117). The park is approximately 1.5 miles on the left. Wetlands Walk |
Seneca Creek State Park 2/25/2017 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. Location: 11950 Clopper Road City: Gaithersburg County: Montgomery Description: Hike the Long Draft trail to the wetlands and back to explore the surroundings and see what the area looks like between winter and spring. This will be a slow, easy walk with time to look for birds and other animals. Bring a camera (optional), good walking shoes, water, and dress appropriately for the weather. Please call the park office at (301) 924-2127 if there is inclement weather. Meet at Kingfisher Overlook. Cost: No cost Directions: From Washington, D.C, Virginia and points south, take I-270 north towards Frederick, Maryland. Take Exit 10, Clopper Road (Route 117). Rocky Gap State Park 2/25/2017 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Location: 12900 lakeshore Drive City: Flintstone County: Allegany Description: High Intensity Interval Training or “HIIT” is designed to give you an amazing calorie burn, blast body fat, boost metabolism, sculpt lean muscle mass, strengthen your core AND increase cardiovascular endurance. All fitness levels welcome - bring a buddy! This 45 minute course is instructed by Jen Thomas, WMHS Health Educator, Health Coach & ACE Personal Trainer. Meet in the Day Use concessions building at Rocky Gap. Cost: Free Directions: From Baltimore, Maryland: (approximately 130 miles) Take I-70 west to I-68 west to Exit 50 for Rocky Gap State Park. The Ranger Station is located straight into the park near the beaches. From Washington, D.C.: (approximately 150 miles) Take I-270 north to I-70 west to I-68 west. Take the Rocky Gap State Park exit (Exit 50). The Ranger Station is located straight into the park near the beaches. From Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and areas west: Take I-279 south to I-79 south (Washington, PA) to I-68 east (Morgantown, WV) and follow I-68 east for approximately 78 miles. Take the Rocky Gap State Park exit (Exit 50). Make a left crossing over I-68 and the Ranger Station is located straight into the park near the beaches.
