Seneca Creek State Park 1/22/2017 12:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. Location: 11950 Clopper Road City: Gaithersburg County: Montgomery Description: Have you ever seen the log cabin sitting next to Seneca’s Park Office? Learn about its history, as well as other long time inhabitants of the area, the Clopper family. Bring the family and toast some marshmallows on a hibachi to enjoy. Meet at the Park Office. Cost: No Cost Directions: From Washington, D.C, Virginia and points south, take I-270 north towards Frederick, Maryland. Take Exit 10, Clopper Road (Route 117). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. The park is approximately 2 miles on the left. From points north, take I-270 south towards Washington, D.C., take Exit 11 (MD Route 124 west). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. At the second light, turn right onto Clopper Road (Route 117). The park is approximately 1.5 miles on the left. Owings Mills, MD 21117 City: County: Baltimore Description: Join one of Soldier’s Delight naturalists at the Visitor Center on learning how animals survive the harsh winters of Maryland. Whether they migrate, hibernate, or stay dormant, all animals do something to protect themselves against the cold. See live animals up close and personal, taking a look at their adaptations and interesting characteristics.Rain or Shine! Call 410-922-3044 to register. Cost: $5/person. Directions: From the Beltway (I-695): Take I-795 to Franklin Blvd. West, turn right. Bear right at Church Rd. Turn left at stop sign onto Berrymans Lane. Learn how to keep your dog safe in the park, and train to become a volunteer BARK Ranger! All dogs must be leashed and up to date on vaccines. Call ahead to sign up; space is limited to 15 dogs.Shine only! Call 410-461-5005 to register. Ages 10 and up. Cost: FREE; donations welcome. Directions: From the Beltway (I-695): Take Rt. 1 (exit 12A) toward Elkridge. Follow Rt. 1 South about 3 miles to South St. Turn right. Park entrance on the left. Follow 1.8 miles and make a sharp left on Hilton Avenue. Continue 1.5 miles and turn right into park.
