Please wear warm clothes and sturdy shoes. Meet at the bulletin board by the parking lot across from the Mill. All events subject to cancellation due to severe weather. | Seneca Creek State Park 1/1/2017 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Location: 11950 Clopper Road City: Gaithersburg County: Montgomery Description: Join the rangers for an easy to moderate hike traversing several areas of the park. The hike will follow a portion of the Long Draught Trail, Kingfisher Overlook, old farm roads and the Great Seneca Trail for fantastic photo opportunities. Warm up with hot cocoa and s’mores around a fire at the Nuthatch Pavilion after the hike. Pets on a leash are welcome. Wear weather appropriate attire and bring water. Registration is encouraged at (301) 924-2127. Cost: No Cost Directions: From Washington, D.C, Virginia and points south, take I-270 north towards Frederick, Maryland. Take Exit 10, Clopper Road (Route 117). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. The park is approximately 2 miles on the left. From points north, take I-270 south towards Washington, D.C., take Exit 11 (MD Route 124 west). Turn right at the light at the bottom of the ramp. At the second light, turn right onto Clopper Road (Route 117). The park is approximately 1.5 miles on the left. Join a Ranger on an invigorating one and a half mile trek on the Mauldin Mountain Loop, learning more about the winter behaviors of Elk Neck’s critters along the way.
