Get Into Nature Weekend |
Fort Frederick State Park 5/27/2017 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 5/28/2017 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Location: 11100 Fort Frederick Road City: Big Pool County: Washington Description: Bring your family and friends to explore the natural side of Fort Frederick State Park. This annual event features self-guided and staff-led outdoor nature and recreation activities for all interest levels and ages. Bring your bike, binoculars, kayak/canoe, and camera! Activities run from 10 am to 4 pm each day. Saturday night will feature a special stargazing astronomy program starting at dark. Contact the Park for details. Cost: Park entrance fees apply. Directions: From the west: Take I-70 E to exit 12(Big Pool), turn right on MD-56 and go down 1 mile to the park on your right. From the east: Take I-70 W to exit 12(Big Pool), turn left on MD-56 and go down 1 mile to the park on your right. Meet at 6567 Dickerson Road, Dickerson, MD 20842: Hike 3+ miles near the Monocacy River on the trails in Frederick County. Several historical landmarks are accessible on these trails, with beautiful surroundings throughout the hike. The chance to explore the newly cleared trails is worth the drive! Enjoy the flora and fuana of the flooded woodlands while learning and floating by the history and natural spectacles of Tuckahoe. Be sure to bring water, a snack and bug spray.
